How does BlogRush work?
BlogRush is a “Cooperative Syndication Network”. When you sign up at BlogRush, you run a “widget” on your blog. Each
time this widget is loaded, it will contain 5 clickable headlines to other users’ posts. Visitors to your website can launch these related posts in a new window. This is sorta like sphere, which provides related content to your blog.
How would BlogRush increase your site traffic
Being a syndication network, your blog articles would be posted on thousands of related pages on different blogs bringing in traffic from all those blogs and also added promotion. Now, if you run the BlogRush widget on your blog, which gets say an average of 1000 page views / day. This means that headlines from your blog will be viewed 1000 times on other blogs running the BlogRush widget. Everytime you refer another blog to the network and say that is a popular blog with 10000 views, you will get your headlines shown 10000 + 1000 (your traffic) = 11,000 times. And then someone gets refered from their link, you get your headlines displayed based on their traffic too. This can go on upto 10 generations.

This just didn’t work and I’m surprised. Lots of well known bloggers gave it a go

I have read about Click through rates in the range of 0,04%
(2 Clicks out of 5000 impressions)
I dont think that is a rate worth using this tool and eating valuable scrren-estate

I think this is a good idea, but you have to work a bit more and test more to make it work.
You should sure that your headlines are very attractive. Besides maybe try to make the style of the widget box more suitable or outstanding on your blog.

An unknown blogger picked up on a made-up post meant as a joke, which claimed that Joe Klein had gotten his hands on 10 pages of student Obama’s college thesis. Rush Limbaugh jumped on it, which immediately sparked Web searches on “obama thesis.”
December 16th, 2009 at 2:19 am
The whole thing was nothing more than a satirical post on a humor blog. But Rush Limbaugh, who quoted from the supposed thesis on his radio show, sure wasn’t laughing. Here’s how it went down.

Thanks for the heads up on this - I will definitely be checking it out!

I watched “blogrush” in Google like a hawk yesterday – I was above everyone except another ASC member the whole day and then BAM! Google found hosted blogs, satellite pages and all kinds of hackery from people looking to get top billing.
January 6th, 2010 at 11:22 pm
Hey man, you keep on blogging. You’ve given me a lot of ideas how to get traffic/visitors to my site. I’ll be checking this out. Thanks!
February 17th, 2010 at 3:19 pm
Thought I’d have a look at some older posts for potential ways of increasing my traffic and this sounded like a potentially good idea. It’s a shame it’s shut down, I would have liked to try it, though having said that the feedback it received doesn’t sound that great. I guess link exchanges never actually have that much success in comparison to just developing quality backlinks from other websites.

Ahh its a shame Blogrush is no longer alive
May 13th, 2010 at 5:00 am
I’ve been saying this about Blogrush for the past week or so yet nobody seems to be listening. All the hype seems to have blinded people to the fact that it is simply a pyramid scheme. I haven’t seen one good review by people who’ve used it, so I just can’t see it working. Maybe time will prove me wrong.

i know BlogRush had many fans but also detractors, seems like social networking has taken nearly all of the interest from what John was trying to do with BR.
