WordPress Plugin to prevent content theft by Sploggers

Spam blogs, sometimes referred to by the neologism splogs, are artificially created weblog sites which the author uses to promote affiliated websites or to increase the search engine rankings of associated sites. The purpose of a splog can be to increase the PageRank or backlink portfolio of affiliate websites, to artificially inflate paid ad impressions from visitors, and/or use the blog as a link outlet to get new sites indexed. Spam blogs are usually a type of scraper site, where content is often either Inauthentic Text or merely stolen (see blog scraping) from other websites. These blogs usually contain an high number of links to sites associated with the splog creator which are often disreputable or otherwise useless websites.

Splogs sometimes choose a name similar to a popular blog in order to benefit from the occasional incoming link from careless bloggers, who think they are linking to the popular site.

How to turn on PageRank in your Google Toolbar

What is Google PageRank?

Google PageRank (one word) is Google’s measure of the relative importance of a Web page on the Internet. The numbers rank from 0 to 10. The higher the number, the stronger the PageRank.

How is PageRank determined?

PageRank is calculated based on both the quantity and PageRank quality of your incoming links. The higher the PR of your incoming links, and the fewer outbound links there are on a page, the more PR is passed to your Web page. For example, a Web page with a fairly high Google PageRank of 6, but divided among many outbound links, might pass along much less PageRank than a PR4 page with only one or two outgoing links. It’s best to consider PageRank transfer on a case by case basis rather than as an overall blanket assessment. The number of variables is simply too high for easy calculations.

Is it important to have good PageRank?

Yes, as PageRank is part of the Google algorithm that determines where your blog or website will appear in the search engine results. Higher PR pages, especially for competitive keywords, will often be listed higher, but high PageRank is only one of about one hundred determining factors in the Google algorithm. It is not by any means the most important factor in search engine rankings.

How can I find out my Google PageRank?

PageRank is displayed in increasing amounts of green on a gauge on the Google Toolbar. The Google toolbar can be downloaded for a PC. Google bundles the Firefox web browser with the Google Toolbar. . The toolbar also displays a sampling of the page’s inbound links, but is not considered a reliable indicator of current PageRank. There is no Google Toolbar currently available for a Mac. Google maintains the true PageRank internally, and the toolbar display is generally agreed to be very inaccurate.

How to turn on PageRank in my Google Toolbar?

To turn on PageRank, follow the instructions below:

1. Click the Toolbar “Settings” button. Select Options.

Can I click on Google Adsense Ads on my website or blog?

In one word … NO.

Clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited by Google as it has the potential to inflate advertiser costs. To combat this menace of click fraud, if Google suspects or finds out that you have been clicking on your own ads and trust me Google will, your Adsense account will be banned. So, please do not click on your own ads.

If you wish to test the ads being displayed on your website or blog without the risk of invalid clicks, I suggest using the Google Adsense Preview Tool. The clicks and impressions from the Adsense preview tool are not applied to the Advertiser’s account and you can happlily click through to the target site without worrying about invalid clicks being generated on your account.

The Google AdSense preview tool allows you to preview the ads that may show up on your webpage. This is a very useful tool for website admins who are displaying Google Adsense ads on their website. You can even click on the ads being shown here as the ads are in a test state, so you don’t have to worry about Google penalizing you by banning your Adsense account. You can preview ad formats and colors where you can select a new border or background or text colors. You can also view ads which visitors to your site say from Australia or U.K or India or China or from any other country might be seeing when they visit your website.
